Creand Asset Management has appointed Manuel Hernández as the new head of Alternative Assets. The appointment reinforces the strategy of including these types of assets in the portfolio of services and products that it offers. The objective is to foster the specialisation and personalisation of these products and services, which have high potential for development and bring added value to clients.
This a new position, created because of the expansion of Creand Asset Management’s operations, which include the management of all types of alternative investments. Last month, the asset management company was authorised by the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) to carry out the management and marketing of venture capital vehicles and companies, discretionary management and advisory.
Manuel Hernández has over 15 years’ experience in the finance industry and has spent most of his career at ABN AMRO Bank and ABN AMRO Asset Management. He previously worked at Fortis & MeesPierson, where he specialised in due diligence and managed thematic equity, absolute return and mixed products, commodities, hedge funds and other alternatives.
Mr Hernández’s career has been directly associated with the management of investment funds as a whole for private, retail and institutional banking in different countries. His extensive experience has given him an understanding of the entire value chain of the fund industry for different types of assets (ranging from traditional aspects of funds and ETFs to alternatives with greater or lesser liquidity). Throughout his career, he has been involved in the creation of new departments and services in asset management companies, Fintech companies and new lines of business.
Hernández holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from ESERP Business School and a master’s degree in Private Banking from Garrigues Business School. He is also trained in communication, social psychology and leadership.
